Twin Peaks

That is certainly not all you can understand, or perhaps want to understand. Perhaps.

Because it may not be meant to be understood at all, or my preferences deviate too much to be able to understand.

Sometimes when I look at some pictures from another artist, read a text in an incomprehensible book - or like when I look at an episode in the series "Twin Peaks" ... The series from the beginning of the 1990s has come back with new Episode. So now you sit here and watch, but absolutely do not understand a twitter (as they say in Norway) ...

Just like when I watched the series during the first years 1990-91. At first an exciting series, with a mysterious murder of a woman. Strange and suggestive, but in an exciting and irresistible way. At least the first season ...

Then came season 2, at least as strange and suggestive, but now less and less exciting and irresistible. More just crazy and crazy ...

In addition, it became increasingly difficult to come up with any kind of logical explanation for who murdered Laura Palmer. I lost interest before someone with the name BOB appeared, which for me had no meaning - as the logical had become less and less important. And I lost interest ...

But somehow I think today that I can understand the thought or thoughts of the series. As the title "Twin Peaks", solid peaks can also mean highlights or peaks. That you might point to it, or see life through different highlights.

And that life is like two twins; as a cloned parallel between dream and reality.

That the dream follows reality - and that reality follows the dream. But still not ...

The dream can never become a reality, and the reality can never completely fall into the dream. Something happens between these parallel worlds, the dream can become something completely different from reality - for better or worse. Or luckily ...

What reality lacks through its boredom or triviality, the dream can cover over through its supernatural or unnatural events. What the dream can give from symbolism and coherent perspective, reality can miss through its duties and boring richness of detail.

The question is not which of the twin tops you want to sit on to get an overview, but that you always seem to need access to both. Although yesterday can provide a basis for the nocturnal dreams in sleep, the dreams can influence the decisions and choices during tomorrow.

If you just "get to sleep on it", then maybe you can make better choices. During tomorrow and on through life.

Both the dream and reality can provide questions and answers.

Twin Peaks seems to constantly wander between reality and dream, between these two twin peaks. Maybe more in the dream I can think, or maybe the dream is a reality - depending on who sees. What preferences we have for life and beyond through life.

Twin Peaks will clearly be a welcome addition to the world for Mark Frost and David Lynch. To their reality, to their dreams. Which probably does not find any common preferences to my world at all. For better or worse. Or luckily ...

I think there may be the same thoughts from me to them, as my images can be perceived by others. Personally, I like to be a photographer who is rather personal than real. Who likes to wander through abstraction and symbolism, more than through the documentary and depiction.

Sometimes there are pictures that others are fascinated by, but I also make pictures where no one else will understand. Sometimes not even myself ...

I'm really trying to understand Twin Peaks, but I do not ... But maybe I can understand the very spirit of the series, even if I do not now understand the plot itself. Which, of course, is not the point. Perhaps...

But the series is needed, I can admit that. As an important contrast to everything else; that which is more condescending, predictable, and boring. Just as we need the more personal photographs; in stark contrast to the more phototechnical, the sharp and overly clear imaging.

We need reality to be able to dream, but we need our dreams to endure reality.

For better or worse. Or luckily ...
